The Lucky Avocado

Since I was 12 years-old my mum used to by me lotto tickets, and now I have an obsessive gambling problem. Now I spend all of my money on them. But my life isn't all bad I have one very loyal friend also he is my only friend steve who is also an orange. Yes I also forgot that I’m bob and I’m an avocado.

On wednesday I was sitting in front of the T.V waiting for the lotto numbers and the numbers were 4, 12, 19, 1, 15, wait what those are my numbers I’ve won, I’VE WON. 40 years of lotto and I have finally won it. This is the best day of my life. So guess what I did I went straight to the lotto store and spend my 2 billion dollars on more lotto tickets. Then I swiftly raced straight home and told steve and he was so excited until I told him what I spent it on then he staggered back inside extremely depressed.

The next morning I woke up I went to Steve’s house but before I could make it their I was versos isley grabed of the bench and was put on the kitchen table. As the human walked towards the toaster I saw Steve in the juicer waiting to have the juice squeezed out of him I think this is the end I shouted to him from across the room and he aggread.

Slow writing

Thud Zac's feet hit the ball.

The opposition missed the goal.

The weather was so cold it was like we were in Antarctica.

Sam punted the ball like it was his sister's face, to start our first half of the Koru games.

Amazingly the ball went in the goal.

Myth Writing

How did the kiwi’s lose the ability to fly?

Long ago in the deep in the forests of the north island there were kiwis flying, playing and eating unlike what they do today. Walking along the forest floor hiding away all day and only coming out at night, and you might ask yourself why don’t kiwis still fly around today and here's why. Back before Stuart island was populated by man the kiwi’s favourite food was the berries that come from the famous Karaka Tree, in fact the kiwi’s loved it so much that they only ate the berries from the Karaka tree. But one day the kiwi’s were having a big party, when unexpectedly kriss the the kiwi said to all the other kiwis that their were no more Karaka Tree berries. Unexpectedly a humongous roar came from deep inside the forest. Who was that said kriss, it is I Tane Mahuta, as if said kriss, how dear you eat all of my loved Karaka tree berries said Tane Mahuta, it doesn't matter said kriss their will be more bloom next year, I don’t want them to be back next year I want them to be back now, said tane mahuta, okey Tane Mahuta said kriss we will rashon next year, right that is the last straw you cannot fly now or ever again and only then will my Karaka Tree berries be safe from you pest said Tane Mahuta! NOOO said Kriss along with all the other kiwis.

Egg Drop Science

Today we did some science some boy science because the girls where all doing stuff so we decided to try the egg drop experiment. The rules where simple you could only touch the plate. But as you can see when we decided to go big or go home our teacher said that we had to use figs instead of eggs but we still had fun when the person in the bottom left (Jack B) decided to hit the cup which went flying off the table onto the ground lucky not smashing!

Types of Energy

Types of Energy

Energy is due to position or movement of an object - Kinetic and Potential
Forms of energy
What is it?
Example?
Kinetic energy
Energy in movement

Mechanical energy
Makes things move by workable moving part or parts.
Wind up toy, scissors, rubix cube and a pen.
Thermal energy
This energy produces heat by the movement of tiny particles within an object.
Fire, jug, kettle and a pot
Magnetic energy
Energy from attraction of objects made of iron.
Magnets on a fridge
Electrical energy
Electrical energy can be used to move charged particles through a wire.
Electricity and power which is used to power appliances
Potential energy
Stored Energy

Gravitational energy
Energy stored in objects held above the earth’s surface.
A flying plane has a higher gravitational potential then a plane on the ground
Elastic energy
Elastic energy occurs when objects are compressed and stretched
Slingshot, springs and a rubber band
Chemical energy
Chemical Energy is energy that is stored in the bonds of chemical compounds (atoms and molecules).
Batteries, diesel, petrol, natural gas, and coal.
Nuclear energy
the energy released during nuclear fission or fusion, especially when used to generate electricity.
Nuclear power plant - provides electricity

Fire Science

This morning at school (4 May) the boys become pyromaniacs while the girls where learning self defence. We where doing a science experiment about if we light two ends of a candle and supported it between two cups it would rock like a seesaw which all sounded good in practice but sadly our experiment failed because the candle didn't act like a seesaw. ;(
But we watch a video of someone who knows how to do it properly and it worked for them. We discovered that the problem was that we put the wire through the cups rather then on them!

Rail Trail

It all started like every school day does with me biking to school but after that it was all different! My different day started with our class beginning to load our bikes onto the Kempthornes truck. After we had loaded all of the bikes my day began to get even stranger because we began driving to Little River where we were going to start biking the rail trail back to Motukarara.

Once we had arrived at Little River we saw the dead lake or lake Forsyth a undrinkable, unswimmable and non boatable waterway because of the large amount of algae in the lake. We got to have a good look at all of the warning signs and the overall quality of the water while we waited for the parents to get back to Little River so we could start the bike ride.

Once we had all been sorted into all of our groups we began the bike ride, and surprisingly we were biking right next to lake Forsyth, which for some people was a daunting prospect because if you fell off your bike you were in lake Forsyth which is not a good thing at all, but despite this daunting prospect nowon fell into lake forsyth. We finally past lake forsyth and began to bike on the canterbury plains where our next problem was the narrow cattle stops and bridges because normally you can bike two wide but with the narrow cattle stops you have to go back to one wide which created congestion but despite this terrible hardship we all soldiered on!

Eventually we began to see lake Ellesmere which was not far from the rock which was where we were going to stop for lunch. Soon we started to bike along the edge of lake Ellesmere, seeing lot’s of maimais and ducks and swans, a staggering amount of ducks and swans, but my duck watching was soon interrupted by the rock a large rock. Where once most of the boys had arrived we decided to climb the rock and have a picnic on top, but the best part about it was at the top the view was breathtaking! But the views were interrupted by some of the boys were pushing rocks of the edge and down the cliff.
After the boys had been told off and everyone had finished their lunch we continued on. We were know at the halfway point from Little River to Motukarara. Once we started again of course we sore lots of ducks, swans and miamias. But now their was something else that we had to worry about long narrow bridges with cattle stops at each end of the bridge every so often. After about 25 minutes of biking beside the road we began to leave it behind. We were also begging the final stretch of the rail trail so we also had left lake Ellesmere behind so the scenery started to get a bit boring so Jack and I decided to pass the time by wheeling over the cattle stops, but when we got to the second cattle stop I discovered that it was a bad idea because I hit the wooden fence and grazed my arm.
Once we started to dwindle to the finishing point. Sam, Jack S and I arrived in the second group and once we got back we discovered that the first group were all lying under the truck in the shade but that wasn't to our taste so to pass the time we decided to begin loading the truck until Eian Kempthorne (the owner of the truck) to finish the rail trail to finish loading the truck. Once everyone had finished and all the bikes were loaded we began to drive home (back to school) after a awesome day for two reasons. Firstly we all got to see the awesome scenery and secondly we all got a day of school!

Finally we got back to school and unloaded the bikes and got free time for an hour!

Memoir About My Town - by Isaac

The town was usual enough; it had
A school with a productive farm on it's fence line, a domain that was like the ones you see on TV, a Small dairy to buy everything for your sweet tooth needs, and even a small stone church
I never went To...

My mates and I
Did what boys do - raced around the the farm to get the work done, built tree Houses everywhere we Went with old scavenged materials we got for free, hit cricket balls over the fence (accidentally) and Dad to jump over the fence to retrieve them, and had also gone home covered in something!

The Future of Oil

You may not know this, but oil is going to run out. Which is a problem because we have become very dependent on it because look what runs on it, there are cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, boats, factories, chainsaws etc. Some people say we should stick with oil and others say we should change to a more long term solution.

Some people say we should stick with oil because it runs in all of our cars etc but they also say we should just wait until oil finally becomes too expensive and then we should find a long term solution but on the other hand we could try and find a long soliton know and who knows it could be cheaper? And who knows we may already have the future right on our finger tips because in twenty years time you may be driving in a electric car or a hydrogen fuel cell car who knows?

Most people know that oil is going to run out but don’t really care about it, but trust me oil is going to start costing more and more and more and sooner or later oil will become too expensive to use everyday and then you will care but by that time it would be too late to find a long term solution quickly!

In conclusion I think that in the future we will use the hydrogen fuel cell instead of the internal combustion engine (oil).

Another problem is, is that people with smartphones have been left because people think they don't need help but if you were forced to flee your home would you take your smartphone? So let's help these people by donating today.

The Future of Cars

what do you think the future of cars is?

The truth is that oil is going to run out so what do we do when it does run out. These are the two main alternative.

The first alternative is batteries but think about what you have at home that runs on batteries? They're allways flat or almost flat and now they are putting them in cars. So now our economy is going to go backwards because you go from a 5 minute fuel stop to a 2 hour charge up.

The second alternative is the hydrogen fuel cell you can fill up like you did with petrol or diesel and it is friendlier to the environment because the only byproduct is water but the hydrogen fuel cell is a hybrid because it only make power so you need electric motors and a batteries but on the other hand you can put these in a house and make power with it.

But there's a problem with both of these think about how long it would take everyone to buy a new car that runs on batteries or a hydrogen fuel cell so the real future of cars needs to use the internal combustion engine so who know what the real future is?

how to treat severe bleeding

This is a sequence of how to stop and treat severe bleeding

We as humans have about 4.7 to 5.5 L of blood so there's not much blood to go around so losing more than half a litre of blood could be life threatening. All types of blood loss could be fatal including a nose bleed!

These are the steps you need to follow to treat severe bleeding.

First, apply pressure to the wound with the person hand for a start then put another item on, it could be a pair of underwear if they are clean, it could be anything as long as it is NOT fluffy and it is clean but don’t put your hand on the person you are treating!

Secondly You need to put a bandage around the wound, to do this you take a bandage and make sure it looks like a happy snail, to make a happy snail you have the bandage roll on top of the bandage, then rape around the wound making sure it is not too tight to know you should only be able to put two fingers in either end of the bandage.

Thirdly you need to phone an ambulance. If you do not have a phone shout for help once someone comes to your aid asked them to call an ambulance and to come back once they do so to know they did phone the ambulance.

Next you need to make sure that they elevate their the wound above the heart so if it is on their leg make them lie down and put their noses in the air because blood is a liquid so it is hard for it to go upwards.

Lastly when the ambulance arrives you need to tell the ambulance crew exactly what you did and what time you found the person bleeding.

Overall these steps are very important and could save someones life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another day at work

By Isaac

Woof, it’s time for another day at work. My owner bob puts my colour and lead on, i jump into the car for the drive to the airport and wonder to myself what mind happen today? We arrive at the airport to start another day at work, it’s a very slow morning but just before lunch I smell something, something I haven’t smelt today. I smells like fresh fruit I race after the sent with my owner in tow, we arive at the suspect to find a nice fresh banana.

I sit down to wait for my owner to tell the man what he has done and after I get a delicious dog treat my favorite kind tux wonderdogs. We continue to walk around the airport waiting for another suspect that we can catch red handed.

We go around to the exit to see if anyone has snuck through conrinten and shure enough we find the same man but this time with a kiwifruit in his jacket, man some people just don’t learn do they? I thought to myself.

We walk onto an aircraft to see if anything bad was in the cargo hold and sure enough at the very back I smelt something, something that smelt like an orange, and when we had a closer inspected we found psyllid deep inside the orange. The department of conservacion came racing down to kill the psyllid and to stop it spreading into local area. Once the orange and the psyllid were taken care of I got three tux wonderdogs, like can this day get any better!

Well later I discovered that it can we get called over to NZ post to check a parcel from a place called, Otago? I started sniffing this strange parcel from a strange place and discovered that their was no fresh fruit in the parcel. But about an hour later when the sun was just starting to dip under the horizon, and all of a sudden we get a phone call to say that what was in the parcel turned out to be a decapitated pig's head like who would have ges that!

We got into the car to go home and so I can have some tea and a sleep so I am ready and energised for the next day at work.
